The Philippine women’s volleyball team concluded another winless leg in the Southeast Asian VLeague with a 25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 24-26 loss to Indonesia on Sunday night at the Chiang Mai 700th Anniversary Sports Complex in Thailand.
Guided by Jorge Edson Souza de Brito, the team surged to an early lead through a commanding first-set display, prominently featuring a pivotal block by Ara Panique against Indonesia’s Wilda Siti.
The following three sets remained tightly contested for both teams, especially in the fourth set, where the Pinay Spikers built a 22-18 advantage through consecutive points contributed by Alyssa Solomon, Minerva Maaya, and
Mhicaela Belen.
However, the Indonesians gained significant momentum from Siti, who contributed six of the final eight points in her country’s 8-2 finishing sprint, securing their second consecutive leg bronze medal in the tournament.
This marked the second consecutive leg in which the Philippines remained winless, following their 0-3 record in the previous week’s first leg.
