Piston’s Blake Griffin Fined For Verbal Abuse
Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Kiki VanDeWeghe announced today that Detroit Piston superstar Blake Griffin has been fined $15,000 for verbally abusing a game official.
The incident happened after the loss of Pistons against Utah Jazz 100-94 last January 15, Tuesday (Manila time).
Griffin, known for debating with referees, came to berate referee Dedric Taylor after the last whistle of the game. Expletives may have been involved as the Piston player gave the official a piece of his mind towards the two fouls he was called on. Griffin at the end was seen walking away while shaking his head. Pistons coach Dwayne Casey also had a few choice words towards the referee.
In a replay video, Blake Griffin appeared to say “f— off” to the referee and may be the reason he was fined. (Janiel Abby Toralba)
