Even though Kai Sotto is already overseas-bound to chase his NBA dream, he assured that playing for the Philippine national team remains his top priority.

The lanky 7-foot-2 center earlier revealed plans to train in the US and eventually in Europe.

However, his father, former PBA player Ervin Sotto promised that their doors will always remain open for Gilas Pilipinas.

“Sa kontrata na pipirmahan namin ni Kai sa kung ano mang club, No. 1 priority namin yung Gilas. Anong oras man kailanganin ng Pilipinas yung serbisyo ng anak ko, expect niyong nandoon yung bata,” he said.

The father and son are set to leave the country early April for Atlanta to begin Kai’s training before they finally decide on one team.

The elder Sotto also revealed that settling with a European club is most likely their next goal, with the US NCAA out of the picture.

The teen hoop sensation may already be on his way overseas but his father repeated that the Philippines will be the first to reap its rewards.

“Kahit anong mangyari, babalik siya rito. Pilipino yan eh,” he said.
