Pocari Sweat scores second win

Games on Thursday:
1 p.m. – IEM vs Sta. Elena
4 p.m. – Air Force vs Power Smashers
6:30 p.m. – Creamline vs Pocari Sweat

Following a back-to-back defeats, Pocari Sweat repulsed Perlas in straight sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-18 in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.

With still no reinforcement to rely on, the locals took charge with Elaine Kasilag, Jeanette Panaga and Myla Pablo led the Lady Warriors’ attack against the Lady Spikers.

The imports’ stints are still on hold pending the release of their ITCs (International Transfer Certificate).

“I guess they’re complementing with each other’s game now. But I want everybody to chip in since that’s what the team needs,” commented Pocari coach Rommel Abella.

It was also Pocari Sweat’s back-to-back win after absorbing losses in their first two games against Power Smashers and BaliPure Water Defenders, and put the defending champions back in the hunt in the season-opening conference of the league organized by Sports Vision.

After an 16-attack, three-ace and two-block stats against the Air Force Jet Spikers last Saturday, Pablo only had 13 hits, including 11 attack points. Good thing Kasilag and Panaga stepped up and added 12 markers each, while Maricar Nepomuceno contributed 10 points for the Lady Warriors.

Meanwhile, Cignal TV Inc. recovered from a first-set deficit to beat Café Lupe, 23-25, 25-19, 25-6, 25-23, to join Sta. Elena and Army in the lead of the men’s side. (Emile Rios)
