POW Jun Manzo is the MAN for UP
Jun Manzo’s leadership and skills as a point guard should never be slept on.
The Cebuano guard showed his brilliance as a playmaker in UP’s crucial 71-68 win against La Salle on Sunday.
With that victory, UP just made another history by not only booking another Final Four trip, but also claiming the twice-to-beat advantage after securing the second spot.
Manzo, for the last two wins, performed his game consistently by posting game averages of 12.5 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.5 rebounds — hence, claiming this week’s Chooks-to-Go Collegiate Press Corps UAAP Player of the Week.
The 5-foot-9 floor general tallied 11 points, eight assists, and five rebounds against La Salle, but it was his dime that became a Kobe Paras’ go-ahead jam that sealed UP’s victory.
“Unang-una, nagpapasalamat kami sa Panginoong Diyos sa binigay niyang panalo,” said Manzo.
“Siguro, kaya kami nanalo ngayon is sa dulo, maganda yung execution namin as a team.”.
The 22-year-old playmaker edged out Ange Kouame of Ateneo, Rhenz Abando of UST, and Wendell Comboy of FEU for the weekly award.
