Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes announced on Thursday that TNT Tropang Giga center Poy Erram has been ruled out of the Gilas Pool for the 2023 FIBA World Cup due to an injury.
“Poy Erram has had knee issues. MRI showed that he has impediments and material in his right knee,” Reyes said in an interview with CNN Sportsdesk, as reported by Tiebreaker Times.
“Poy has decided to take that care of and scrape,” the multi-titled coach added.
With Erram out, there are only 16 players left in the current player pool for the World Cup.
The remaining big men in the player pool are AJ Edu, Kai Sotto, June Mar Fajardo, and Japeth Aguilar. Angelo Kouame will not make it to the final roster since Gilas already decided to have Jordan Clarkson as its naturalized player for the World Cup.
