Pringle and Anthony out, but NorthPort remains positive
By Mark Patriarca
Two of NorthPort’s main guys will not suit up on the early stages of Governor’s Cup, and coach Pido Jarencio has no other choice but to move forward.
“Basta look forward and positive lang,” said Jarencio.
It is a definite blow for the team as Stanley Pringle is still playing for the country in 2018 Asiad Games, while Sean Anthony will be out for a couple of weeks due to a calf injury.
Both players are a terror on the court for opposing teams. Last import-laden conference, scoring guard Pringle still averaged 21.15 points, while Sean Anthony had 17.23 points.
“Alam mo naman yung dalawa, Si Stanley nagpapagaling ng kasama. Nadadala niya. Yung defense nagko-collapse sa kanya. For now, siyempre, wala. Kailangan mag step-up talaga yung ibang players.” exclaimed NorthPort coach.
Batang Pier is set to face a also depleted Phoenix Fuel Masters who’ll play without injured Doug Kramer and Gelo Alolino, but will be backed by super import Eugene Phelps who scored 50 points in their assignment against Columbian Dyip.
The rejuvenated Calvin Abueva will also play his second game for Phoenix and hopefully continue his good output when he finished 12 points and 13 rebounds, also against Columbian Dyip.
Game will start 6:45 pm, right after Alaska-TNT clash at 4:30 pm, at Smart Araneta Coliseum this August 26, Sunday.
