Instead of the traditional Reinforced Conference, the Premier Volleyball League will stage an All-Filipino tourney for its third conference in the 2023 season.
According to PVL president Ricky Palou, they could not stage an import-laden conference after the FIVB blocked the league’s request for international transfer certificates (ITCs) for the possible reinforcements of the club teams.
“We will have a third conference, but this time, it will be back to the All-Filipino kasi hindi nga nakakuha ng ITC. So we’re going to proceed with the third conference but All-Filipino,” said Palou.
“We’re looking at starting maybe on October 16 or 17 around that time, and we will go through until December. We will play one round-robin, semifinals, and then the finals. Best-of-three ‘yung semis, best-of-three ‘yung finals,” he added.
The PVL official further said that they are currently in talks with SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City and Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City to secure some playdates.
However, Palou said that most of the games for the season-ending conference will still be at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The PVL is coming off a successful Invitational Conference where visiting Japanese team Kurashiki Ablaze dethroned the Creamline Cool Smashers in one-game finals last Sunday.
