Sports columnist Quinito Henson shed light on why Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes did not challenge Jordan Clarkson’s fifth foul against the Dominican Republic on Friday.
Clarkson fouled out with around three minutes left in the game after an offensive foul. Netizens wondered why Reyes did not utilize his coach’s challenge to review the crucial call.
According to Henson, the foul cannot be challenged.
“DomRep used coaching challenge in 2nd qrtr on last touch call-Gilas cudnt challenge JCs last foul bcos it wasnt reviewable-coaches cant challenge foul calls unless upgradable to unsportsmanlike,” Henson said in his post on X.
Gilas collapsed offensively after Clarkson fouled out, and the Dominican Republic capitalized as they clinched an 87-81 win. (MJD)
