Ramos, Balkman power Alab Pilipinas over Singapore Slingers
The duo of Puerto Rican imports Renaldo Balkman and PJ Ramos were simply unstoppable for San Miguel Alab Pilipinas, leading the Philippine squad to an 80-70 win over the Singapore Slingers on Sunday afternoon at OCBC Arena in Singapore.
Ramos led the defending champions’ third quarter assault, scoring 9 of his 22 points in a 15-4 run that turned a close 52-51 to a decisive 67-55 lead.
The behemoth Ramos also hauled down 17 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Balkman, meanwhile, also had a masterclass showing with 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.
The win kept Alab on top of the standings with a 17-4 win-loss record.
Lawrence Domingo chipped in 12 points, stepping up for the foul-plagued Bobby Ray Parks, who settled for 6 points, 7 rebounds and 4 dimes in the win.
John Fields paced the Singaporean squad with 21 points and 7 rebounds, while Xavier Alexander tallied a double-double with his 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Singapore dropped to 13-8, though remains at third place after earlier clinching a playoff berth.
