Raptors’ Serge Ibaka spokesperson: Marquese Chriss said something to cause the brawl
The Toronto Raptors are going through a rough patch as they lost to Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday (Manila time) 101-126 and has to deal with Serge Ibaka’s ejection in the game.
A brawl between Ibaka and Cavs’ Marquese Chriss heated up in the ending part of the third quarter as they are battling for position. The two tangled with each other and Ibaka fell down. As soon as he stood up he attacked Chriss and grabbed him by the neck.
With different angles of the replay, Chriss stared down on Ibaka while he was on the floor. It’s still unknown what he had said or if he did say something but for sure Ibaka lost his cool when Chriss did that.
The two players later on were ejected and certainly will be suspended and fined for the brawl they caused.
Ibaka didn’t entertain any interviews after the game but as per Joe Vardon of The Athletic, a spokesperson stated that Chrisse did something to trigger Ibaka.
Vardon tweeted, “Serge Ibaka left the visiting locker room in Cleveland before speaking with reporters. Through a spokesman, he confirmed he was reacting to something Chriss said to him while he was lying on his back”.
The Raptors will definitely suffer if Ibaka will be suspended. Their top star is averaging 15.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game, and is crucial to clinch the top seed of the Eastern Conference. With him gone, there will be change of lineup with Marc Gasol filling in for his role. (Janiel Abby Toralba)
