Brazil launched their 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup group stage campaign with a commanding 100-59 victory over Iran on Saturday night at the Jakarta Arena in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Bruno Caboclo led the scoring for the Brazilian team with 16 points, followed by Yago Santos with 14 points. Tim Soares, Vitor Bente, and Marcelinho Huertas also made significant contributions with 13, 12, and 10 points, respectively.
The Brazilians showcased a dominant performance right from the beginning of the game. However, their convincing victory was marred by a tragic turn when former NBA player Raul Neto suffered a gruesome injury early in the third quarter.

Matin Aghajanpour top-scored for the Iranians with 11 points, while Hamed Haddadi added 10 markers.
Over at the Okinawa Arena in Japan, Georgia hacked out a lopsided 85-70 victory over Cape Verde.
Tornike Shengaila led the way with 16 points; Goga Bitadze added double-double 15 points and 10 rebounds; and Duda Sanadze and Alexander Mamukelashvili ended with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
