RDO goes back home to TNT KaTropa as part of coaching staff

There is no place like home for Ranidel De Ocampo, as he returns from TNT KaTropa in a different role.

De Ocampo has been tapped by TNT as the newest member of the team’s coaching staff, according to TNT manager Gabby Cui.

“Coach Ranidel brings us a wealth of championship experience and basketball knowledge that will definitely help our team reach our aspirations for another championship,” Cui said.

The 38-year old De Ocampo last played for Meralco Bolts after being traded from TNT three years ago, but lingering injuries forced him to conclude his 15-year career in April.

Still, De Ocampo’s hiring marks his reunion with TNT, where he made a name for himself as a versatile stretch four from 2008-17, helping the team to six PBA titles.

A two-time PBA Finals MVP award twice and a nine-time All-Star with, De Ocampo was also an integral member of Gilas Pilipinas.

De Ocampo will formally replace the spot that was vacated by current Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin.
