ROOKIE Kieffer Alas is already looking ahead after Ateneo’s PinoyLiga Big Dance campaign came to an end in the Final Four.
The Blue Eagles were eliminated by the UST Growling Tigers, 76-68, ending their title hopes in the tournament.
Despite the setback, Kieffer emerged as one of Ateneo’s key contributors, averaging 20 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and one steal per game.
After spending nearly a year and a half playing in the United States, Alas made a smooth return to Philippine basketball and quickly built chemistry with his Ateneo teammates.
“I mean I played here since I was a kid naman. So nag-US lang ako for halos one and a half years lang. So I guess it was an easier adjustment because welcoming naman iyung team sa akin,” said Kieffer.
With the PinoyLiga campaign now over, Kieffer and Ateneo will now shift their attention toward the bigger challenge ahead of UAAP Season 89.
“Hopefully, that’s what we’re preparing for. So let’s see,” he said.
Alas also thanked the Ateneo community for continuing to support the team through its ups and downs.
“Thank you for the support guys. Thank you for having our backs through all the ups and downs. We really appreciate it,” said Kieffer.
The PinoyLiga title may be out of reach, but Alas now has his sights set on a bigger stage. (John Paulo Magual)
