Ready to serve: Chris Newsome continues practice with Gilas Pilipinas despite being cut

Despite not being part of the 12-man roster for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup starting this Friday, Chris Newsome remains engaged with Gilas Pilipinas and makes himself available for the team.

As preparations for their game against the Dominican Republic on Friday night continue, the Meralco Bolts guard participated in the national team practice on Thursday night at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

After previously excluding Thirdy Ravena, Calvin Oftana, and Bobby Ray Parks Jr., Gilas head coach Vincent “Chot” Reyes made the final cut from his 16-player pool by removing Newsome.

Despite not making the final cut, the former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles star expressed gratitude and pledged to remain available for his country and its flag.
