Real Amigos stun defending champs

Real Amigos brought their A-game to pull off a stunning upset against defending champion and erstwhile undefeated Super Eagles, 3-1 last night in the Philam Life 7s Football League at the McKinley Hill Stadium in BGC.

Rookie goal keeper Firat Sen took the limelight as he anchored Real Amigos’ defense in producing the biggest shocker so far in the third season of the trailblazing seven-a-side football tournament.

Firat says his familiarity with most of the the Super Eagles gave him an advantage, despite playing only his first game this season.

“It’s my first game but I’ve been playing with these guys. I know their style of play, because we were already together before. Knowing them makes it easy for me to stop them,” he explains.

H&J All-Stars also produced another great win against Stallion-Laguna, 5-2 to keep its unblemished record intact.

Despite falling 0-2 after the first few minutes of the, H&J waxed hot the rest of the way by slotting home five unanswered goals to take the win.

In other results, Delimondo-Laro FC likewise remained unbeaten after drubbing a tough Tondo FC, 3-1; Superbad claimed its second win in a row after beating Matu Deportivo, 4-1; Ghana FC took a crucial 2-1 win over Bohemian SC; and Futbol Fanatics bounced back to the win column after edging Ceres-Negros Youth FC, 2-1.
