Red Booters scalp Cardinals, 10-0
Reigning titlist San Beda continued to show solid form as it smashed a hapless Mapua, 10-0, to remain unscathed and atop the heap in the seniors’ division of the 93rd NCAA football tournament at the Rizal Memorial Complex grounds.
Mark Anthony Magtoto unleashed a hat trick by scoring on the 45th, 46th and 76th minute while Adolfo Ababa and Aljo Paul Zabala each unloaded a brace to help the Red Booters nail their second straight victory following a 10-1 smashing of the Emilio Aguinaldo Generals in the opener Friday.
Jerome Marzan and Jegger Paul Alfuenter joined the scoring frenzy by contributing a rocket apiece. The Red Booters are currently tied with La Salle, a former member, with the most number of seniors’ title and would emerge as winningest in the league of they could win it all again this season. St. Benilde likewise stayed unscathed in two games as it downed Perpetual Help, 6-0.
It was also the second triumph for the Blazers, who waylaid the Mapua Cardinals, 6-0, in the first game also Friday.
EAC, for its part, leaned on Marvin Lianza’s first half goal as it turned back Lyceum of the Phl U, 1-0, to barge into the win column and improve to 1-1.
