Red in the face: TNT gives up on draft bust Mo Tautaua
Talk N Tex KaTropa has shut down the Moala Tautuaa experiment just two years after picking him number one in the 2015 PBA draft.
The franchise led by self-styled basketball patron Manuel V. Pangilinan used the Fil-Tongan big man as the main chip to get wantaway superstar Terrence Romeo from Globalport (and center journeyman Yousef Taha).
TNT added a 2020 first-round pick, and a 2021 second-rounder to sweeten the pot which showed how Tautuaa’s value had fallen after being touted to replace the big shoes left by TNT legen Asi Taulava.
Talk ‘N Text acquired the No. 1 draft pick from a trade with Blackwater involving Larry Rodriguez who was out of the league a year after the swap.
Tautuaa is a poor shooter with a 46 percent field goal percentage and 52 percent from the free throw area. He is averaging 8.64 points and 7.82 rebounds in the current conference.
Will the Filipino-Tongan big man finally reach his potential in Globalport as the sidekick of Stanley Pringle? Abangan!
