Defending champion San Beda College demolished University of Perpetual Help, 76-54 to get back in the win column of the men’s basketball tournament of the NCAA Season 93 at the Filoil Arena in San Juan.

Jayvee Mocon led the Red Lions with 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists as SBC returned to its winning ways from a stunning loss to Lyceum Pirates in their previous game.

“The team just wants to bounce back big and this win is the result of their desire to get back on track,” Red Lions mentor Boyet Fernandez said.

In the first game, Letran Knights rose from a 17-point hole to frustrate College of St. Benilde Blazers, 83-80.

Jeo Ambohot led the Knights with 15 points and seven boards while skipper Rey Nambatac, Bong Quinto and Jeremiah Taladua added 14 points apiece.

Letran posted its first win in the tournament while the Generals absorbed their first loss in two starts.

Letran head coach Jeff Napa credited his team’s defense for the win.

“The team did a great job executing our plan against Hamadou Laminou,” Napa said.
