Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson has reportedly committed to playing for Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
“It’s a good day for Philippine basketball. With Jordan Clarkson on board, the SBP looks forward to a competitive showing against the best in our region,” Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al Panlilio told Spin.ph reporter Homer Sayson.
In his report, Sayson added that Clarkson will arrive in the Philippines on August 6, 19 days before the World Cup kicks off.
The 2021 NBA Sixth Man of the Year averaged 25.0 points, 6.5 assists, and 5.5 rebounds in two games with the national team during the World Cup qualifiers.
If Gilas head coach Chot Reyes decides to put Clarkson on the final roster, Ginebra resident import Justin Brownlee will be a reserve player for the Philippine team. (MJD)
