‘Rey Malas’ Suerte hopes to see teammates step up

UE active consultant Lawrence Chongson previously lamented that other players outside Rey Suerte and Alex Diakhete were just “palamuti” in a decoration, and this was the case again for the Red Warriors in their game against UP Maroons on Saturday.

Unfortunately, the one-and-done star also became a mere “palamuti” at that time for UE

When Suerte looked at the statistical sheet, all he had to say was “Rey Malas”, and it seemed that he ran out of luck as he only collected four points on two-of-15 shooting clip — contrary to his average points of 22.75 points per game.

“Siyempre ano, expected ko na yun eh, na dedepensahan nila ako. Yun nga, hinaluan pa ng konting malas. Tsaka nahirapan din ako mag-adjust sa ring kasi sobrang tigas talaga,” said the two-time CESAFI MVP.

Jaydee Tungcab and the rest of Fighting Maroons was out all game trying to clamp down on Suerte, which eventually led to a 62-56 victory.

“Oo, wala na ako nung second half, medyo limitado na. Depensa na lang, assist, pasa, nag-role player na lang. Ako na nag-adjust,” he shared.

Now that the Red Warriors dropped at 1-4, the 23-year-old Suerte hopes that all of his teammate would rise to the occasion.

“Kailangan talaga na we need to step up talaga every game. Hopefully, mga kasama ko mag-step up na kaming lahat.”
