Three former collegiate standouts have indicated their intention to join the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft.
Ricci Rivero and Brent Paraiso have decided to move on to the professional ranks, according to their manager, Charlie Dy of Virtual Playground.
As reported by Rey Joble of The Daily Tribune, Rivero and Paraiso are expected to personally file their applications with the PBA office soon.
Rivero and Paraiso were former teammates at De La Salle University’s Green Archers and won a UAAP title before they went separate ways midway through their collegiate careers.
The 6-foot-1 Rivero went on to transfer to the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, where he won his second UAAP title.
Paraiso, on the other hand, moved to the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers before spending his last two years with the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights, where he won two NCAA crowns.
Raffy Verano, on the other hand, also announced his decision to play in the PBA, according to Rappler Sports’ Naveen Ganglani.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to play pro basketball, and it’ll be special that it’s in the Philippines,” Verano said.
Verano won two UAAP titles with the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles. He played for the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA 3×3 and is currently part of the Quezon Huskers in the MPBL.
