From South Korea, RJ Abarrientos has taken his talents to Japan.
The former Far Eastern University Tamaraws guard on Tuesday agreed to a deal with the Shinshu Brave Warriors for the 2023–2024 Japan B.League season.
Abarrientos’ move to the Brave Warriors came days after he sought his release with Korean Basketball League team Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus.
Among the possible teammates of Abarrientos at Shinshu is former UAAP center Matthew Aquino, who is playing as a local Japanese player in the Japan B.League.
“I am very excited for this journey with the Shinshu Brave Warriors,” Abarrientos said in a statement released by the Brave Warriors.
“I will do my best to win as many games as we can this season. I can’t wait to play in front of our fans and see you soon!” he added.
Abarrientos’ departure from the Mobis Phoebus came as a surprise, as he was just named the KBL’s Rookie of the Year while playing for the team last season.
