Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni hints Clint Capela’s return
Houston Rockets center Clint Capela may come back soon after head coach Mike D’Antoni implied that he will be seen in action after the NBA All-Star Weekend break, in the upcoming game against Los Angeles Lakers.
After their match against Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday (Manila time), coach D’Antoni referred to the game as their final match-up “before Clint gets back.”
Capela underwent surgery on his right thumb and missed 4-6 weeks for the Rockets. After exactly a month of absence, apparently Capela will only need one more week to heal and he could be given the green light to practice with the Rockets.
Though the Rockets held their own well in Capela’s absence, the burden will be lightened now that he’s present again. Capela’s comeback will add further to the Rockets’ defensive core and will bring more pick-and-roll plays. In the 42 games he has played, he scored 17.6 points and 12.6 rebounds.
Together with his powerful rebounds, James Harden’s god-level scoring, and Chris Paul’s genius plays, the Rockets will be a huge threat for the other teams in the league. (Janiel Abby Toralba)
