Rondina, Pons star as Blaze Spikers keep Lady Skippers winless

Reigning champion Petron made a short work of winless Marinerang Pilipina in straight sets, 25-12, 25-17, 25-9, in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference Tuesday at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.

Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons starred as the Blaze Spikers demolished the Lady Skippers in just 78 minutes to chalk their 11th win in 12 outings.

Rondina delivered a game-high 13 points off seven attacks, four service aces and two blocks while Pons nailed 11 attacks for all her points on top of 14 digs.

Setter Rhea Dimaculangan dished out 21 excellent sets while Ces Molina and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas had seven and six points, respectively, for Petron, which also drew impressive game from Mika Reyes and Mela Tunay.

Petron head coach Shaq Delos Santos had the luxury to field all of his 14 players as they earned their ninth straight win before facing unbeaten leader F2 Logistics (11-0) on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

“I’m happy that all my players delivered,” said Delos Santos.

“Fielding all of them was part of the game plan and as I told them to get ready, they played well-prepared.”

The Blaze Spikers dominated all scoring departments with 44-18 deficit in attacking, 7-2 advantage in service and had seven kill blocks against the Lady Skippers, who didn’t score a single block.

No Lady Skipper scored in double figures with Dimdim Pacres serving as the lone bright spot with nine markers as they dropped to their 13th straight outing.
