Rain or Shine outran and outgunned Converge, dishing out a 127-110 victory against the FiberXers in the PBA on Tour exhibition games at the Ynares Center in Pasig City on Friday.
The younger Elasto Painters squad immediately stepped on the gas, catching a flatfooted FiberXers side for an early 41-20 advantage.
Rain or Shine again blitzed its way to a 31-point lead in the third quarter, and the wards of coach Aldin Ayo did not recover after that.
Anton Asistio top scored the Epainters with 20 points, while Shaun Ildefonso padded the team’s balanced attack with 19 markers.
“We’re a relatively young team, so coach said we have to rely on our speed. That’s going to be a factor against bigger teams,” said Ildefonso, who was chosen as the player of the game. “Araw araw sinasabi ni coach Yeng, have confidence; confidence can really bring you to the distance.”
Justin Arana paced Converge with 25 points.
It was a bounce-back for the Elasto Painters, who lost to Ginebra last time. They also snapped Converge’s win streak to two.
