Rovelyn Baterbonia yet to receive Bobet’s death certificate

ROVELYN Baterbonia, mother of late Ateneo student-athlete Rene Baterbonia, said she is still waiting for her son’s death certificate, adding to the family’s concerns following the player’s drowning during an off-campus team-building activity.

In a recent social media post, Rovelyn questioned the delay in the release of the document and asked why the family had yet to receive it.

“Hanggang Ngayon Hindi pa nila nabibigay ang death certificate sa akin, nasaan na kaya bat ang bagal,” she wrote.

Rene and fellow Ateneo student-athlete Divine Adili died during the team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora last June 8. The incident prompted several investigations into the circumstances surrounding the two deaths.

Rovelyn has previously raised concerns over how the university handled the aftermath of her son’s death, including the circumstances surrounding the incident and the handling of his remains.

Ateneo de Manila University has said it remains willing to meet with the Baterbonia family, listen to their concerns and provide assistance whenever they are ready. (Adrian Co)
