The RP Blu Girls suffered a 10-5 defeat at the hands of Chinese Taipei in the 2023 Women’s Softball Asia Cup during their battle for bronze.
But the Pinays still managed to secure a ticket to the XVII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup after finishing fourth in the Asian tournament.
The Blu Girls ended up with a 5-3 record, which was good enough for a fourth-place finish and a World Cup berth.
“Congrats to our RP Blu girls for their impressive performance against World No. 3 Chinese Taipei in the 2023 Women’s Softball Asia Cup!” said Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines President Jean Henri Lhuillier.
“Despite the 5-10 final score, you all played with heart and gave it your all! Keep your heads up high and continue to represent our country with pride.”
It will be the Pinays’ first World Cup appearance since 2018.
The World Cup group stage will take place from July 11 to 26 in Dublin, Irelan.
