San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan had a chance to explore Filipino cuisine during his offseason trip to the Philippines, rating a variety of traditional dishes in a fun and candid video shared by NBA Rising Star Invitational.
Sochan kicked off his culinary adventure with palabok, giving it a solid 7.5 out of 10, praising its excellent combination of textures and flavors.
“It’s pretty good; I am giving this a solid 7.5. I like the texture, the sauce… good blend,” Sochan said.
Next up, he sampled adobo and gising-gising, awarding them scores of 8.5 and 9.5, respectively.
“That (adobo) is chewy, though. I am giving them 8.5,” he remarked. “(The gising gising) is a little sweet. It’s good. I like that. That’s like 9.5.”
He then tried fried chicken with gravy, which earned a 9.0 rating, as he found it to be the perfect pairing with both adobo and gising gising.
“I am going to give (fried chicken) a 9.0 because I like this! It was a perfect combo for me.”
Lastly, he sampled the iconic Filipino dessert, halo-halo, which he rated 7.5.
“This looks crazy, a lot of different textures. Sweet. I’ll give it a 7.5,” he shared.
Sochan, currently in the country as a special guest for the NBA Rising Star Invitational Qualifiers, is enjoying his time exploring Filipino culture and flavors. The event will continue until Sunday.
