San Miguel catches fire from deep to torch NLEX
The San Miguel Beermen made it rain from deep en route to 121-111 demolition of NLEX Road Warriors in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Friday night.
The defending champions caught fire from the get-go and buried 20 triples to clinch their third straight win and improve to 5-3.
San Miguel made 6 three-pointers in the first period alone for a scintillating 28-4 kick start.
Overall, the Beermen shot a stellar 47% on its 43 three-point attempts.
JuneMar Fajardo finished with a game-high 27 points and 13 rebounds to lead 6 other San Miguel players in double figures.
Alex Cabagnot finished with 18 points while Arwind Santos fired 17 points.
Marcio Lassiter sank 4 treys to add 16 markers, Terrence Romeo had 14 points and Von Pessumal and Chris Ross delivered 12 points apiece for the Beermen.
JR Quiñahan led the Road Warriors, who fell into a 2-5 win-loss card, with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Juami Tiongson added 16 points and 13 assists while Poy Erram chipped in 16 points in the losing effort.
