After De La Salle Green Archers’ important 84-77 victory against NU Bulldogs, Leonard Santillan was spotted crying when he was named as the Best Player of the Game.

When asked about his sudden breakdown, the 6-foot-5 forward was open about his feelings during the post-game interview.

The former University of Visayas standout only visited his parents last December, while his wife Alicia Mae and son Lucas are currently based on Hawaii where it has been almost nine months since the last time he saw them.

“Parati naman kaming naguusap sa video call. Minsan kasi hindi sapat ‘yun. Talagang gusto ko sila makita ng personal,” he lamented.

With the help of his teammates and coaches, the Lapu-Lapu native is always inspired to play at the highest level.

La Salle head coach Louie Gonzales did not only praised Santillan’s performance but also his ability to overcome his personal adversities.
Sabi ko sa kanya, what he’s doing right now, para din sa family niya,” said Gonzales.

After the interview, Gonzales quickly reached out to Santillan.

“Kaunti tiis na lang, Dong.”
