Rising Pinay weightlifter Vanessa Sarno got herself three gold medals at the 2023 Asian Youth and Junior Championships in India on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old dominated the women’s youth 71 kg class after topping the event by lifting a total of 216 kilos.
Sarno hoisted 95 kilos in the snatch, then proceeded to lift 121 kilos in the clean and jerk event. These gave her a total of three gold medals.
Settling for second was Phattharathida Wongsing of Thailand, who registered a total of 212 kilos.
Sevinchoy Komilova of Uzbekistan rounded up the top three with a total of 198 kilos.
With the Bohiol native’s victory, the Philippines won a total of 19 gold medals in the meet.
The Philippines will also bring home 10 silver and four bronze medals.
