Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al Panlilio said that Kai Sotto is welcome to join Gilas Pilipinas’ practice once the team arrives from China.
“He’s welcome to join the team’s practice upon their return from China,” Panlilio said in a Spin.ph report.
However, Panlilio added that the SBP is requiring Sotto to submit results of his MRI before he will be signed into a contract.
“After being informed of Kai Sotto’s injury, the SBP is just waiting for him to submit his MRI results attesting that he’s 100 percent fit to play before signing his contract,” the SBP president said.
The 7’3 NBA prospect said in a recent interview with PlayitRight TV that he is always committed to the national team. Sotto added that his back injury has been hindering him from joining Gilas’ preparations for the World Cup.
“I’m supposed to do 12 [therapy] sessions; I’ve done six, so slowly but surely. Hopefully by next week, pwede na ko mag-step on court and do some drills,” Sotto said in the interview. “I think I’ll be good; I’ll be okay.” (MJD)
