Scottie Thompson inks extension deal with Ginebra
Scottie Thompson is going to stay with Barangay Ginebra for a long time.
The Ginebra management decided to give the 2018 Commissioners’ Cup a three-year extension deal for his immediate impact in the franchise.
Thompson’s rookie contract, which dated back last 2015, is set to expire this season.
The 2015 fifth overall pick was one of the key players in Ginebra’s three championships in three seasons, and he also lived up to the expectations that were set on him.
The former NCAA MVP also became a fan-favorite in Ginebra, as he shown some flashes of his “never-say-die” attitude due to his unmatched energy and rebounding prowess.
“Scottie brings us that intangible of just never quit or never give up, and he really exemplifies that never-say-die attitude,” said Ginebra head coach Tim Cone who has nothing but good words for Thompson.
“His energy is always there. You don’t get see him in practice but he’s like that in practice too, the stuff he does in games, he does in practice all the time.
Thompson is currently serving his time with Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers where unsurprisingly, his performance was well-received by fans and critics alike.
