Sen. Dick gets angry at PBA’s penalty to Coach Tab

Sen. Richard Gordon expressed his disappointment at the league’s decision to penalize Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin.

The TNT Katropa assistant coach was slapped with a P75,000 fine and a three-game suspension by PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial.

Gordon made a long thread on Twitter saying that the PBA’s action was “uncalled for” because Coach Tab was simply stating his opinion.

“The PBA’s recent decision to suspend Tab Baldwin and fine him for his comments about the league, its officiating and the country’s local coaches is uncalled for,” he wrote.

“The association should have looked at the message and not shot the messenger. You may not agree with him but you don’t penalize him.”

Gordon, who happens to finish his studies in Ateneo De Manila University, also valued Baldwin’s contribution not just a collegiate coach with the Blue Eagles but also a great mentor in Philippine basketball.

“I think he is one of the finest coaches that ever came in to the Philippines. Our players are good but they need coaching and they need to be disciplined. Not listening to him is our loss,” he ended.
