The University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas entered the Shakey’s Super League (SSL) National Invitationals win column after a 23-25, 25-12, 25-20, and 25-16 win over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation on Sunday afternoon at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Winnie Bedaña erupted for 20 points to lead four players in double digits as the Lady Altas improved to 1-1 in Pool A after bouncing back from a 25-11, 25-17, 25-12 loss to UAAP champion De La Salle University Lady Spikers.
Charmaine Mae Ocado and Shaila Allaine Omipon had 18 and 16 points, respectively, while NCAA MVP Mary Rhose Dapol threw in 15 points for the Lady Altas.
“Masaya kasi ito talaga ‘yung goal namin, makapanalo ng isa. Dito talaga kami umasa kasi ‘yung first game, mabigat. As of now, medyo suntok sa buwan pa ‘yun. Ang goal namin, makapunta muna sa second round, then we’ll go from there,” said coach Sandy Rieta.
Ghanna Mae Suan and Mary Louise Querubin led USPF, the CESAFI runner-up, with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
