Shaq suggests to scrap NBA season

Shaquille O’ Neal suggested that the NBA season this year should be totally scrapped according to his interview in USA Sports Today.

Shaq pointed out the fact that “any team that wins this year, there’s an asterisk”, pertaining to the factor that there was a long suspension of games due to COVID-19 pandemic.

“I think we should scrap the season. Everybody go home, get healthy, come back next year. Just scrap the season. Just scrap it. To try and come back now and do a rush playoffs as a player? Any team that wins this year, there’s an asterisk. They’re not going to get the respect,” said the four-time NBA champion.

“What if a team that’s not really in the mix of things all of a sudden wins with a new playoff format? Nobody is going to respect that. So, scrap it. Worry about the safety of the fans and the people. Come back next year.”

Although Shaq understands that most players are still adjusting to the sudden stoppage of season, his stand remains that whichever team wins in the NBA wouldn’t be that special, considering the situation that the league is facing right now.

“Look, I understand how players are feeling. I really do. But any team that gets it done this year, there’s going to be an asterisk on that championship.”

Still, NBA stars like LeBron James were vocal on their stand in resuming the 2019-2020 season whatever it takes.
