Shaquille O’Neal hails Giannis Antetokounmpo as “Superman”
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal admitted that Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo was better than him at the age of 24 years old.
On The Big Podcast with Shaq, the four-time NBA champion expressed his respect and approval for Antetokounmpo. “He’s better and that’s why I gave up my Superman title to him. But you know what? He works hard, he’s a humble kid and works hard.”
O’Neal just couldn’t stop praising the “Greek Freak”, saying he earned whatever he is right now. He even passed on his title “Superman” to him last November.
“He doesn’t just come and show up and expect people to say: ‘Oh, he’s the next one’. This kid actually works and he’s earned it. He’s deserved it and he’s earned my respect so I’m giving it to him. To answer all the questions: ‘You’re right, the kid is better than me at 24.’” O’Neal said.
O’Neal is so impressed with Antetonkounmpo right now that he even claimed the Bucks star as the league’s MVP.
“The Greek Freak is the MVP right now,” O’Neal said back then. “How about that?”
It truly is an honor to be called MVP by a legend himself, and Antetokounmpo proves he deserves it by averaging 27.4 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, leading the Bucks to the top seed of the Eastern Conference. The Greek Freak is among the favorites in the running for the unpredictable MVP race, alongside Rockets’ James Harden and Thunders’ Paul George. (Janiel Abby Toralba)
