Sigh of relief for Ginebra, Gilas as Aguilar says he’s fine after ankle injury
By Miles Morales
Japeth Aguilar was quick to allay fears after he suffered a minor ankle injury in Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s win over the Columbian Dyip last Saturday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The 6-foot-9 forward hurt his ankle during the second quarter after accidentally stepping on Jackson Corpuz’s foot.
Aguilar never saw action in the second half, ending the night with 11 points and seven boards.
But apparently, Aguilar’s injury is not that serious.
“Hi guys! Thanks for the concern. My ankle is alright, I did a light workout this morning. Probably just need to ice it often and I’ll be back in no time,” Aguilar said in a tweet on Sunday.
This is not just good news for Ginebra but also for Gilas Pilipinas who will enter the crucial stretch of the Fiba World Cup qualifiers later this month
