Sinayang! UST’s ‘Inaction’ Led To Nonoy, Cuajao’s Exit
University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers lack of plan for its men’s basketball team’s future led to Mark Nonoy and Vince Deo Cuajao’s decision to move out from the squad.
Fastbreak learned from a source that the camp of Nonoy and Cuajao were waiting until Sunday evening for the UST to lay down its plans for the men’s basketball team moving forward but the university has failed to do so.
“Walang maibigay na sagot ang UST kung ano ang magiging direction ng men’s basketball team nila moving forward,” a source said on condition of anonymity.
The source added that both Nonoy and Cuajao have also waited if the UST will endorse former head coach Aldin Ayo’s appeal to the UAAP decision to indefinitely ban him from coaching in the league but there was also no clarity on the matter.
“Yan kasi si Mark and Deo parehong loyal ‘yan kay coach Aldin kaya sana gusto nila mag stay sa UST kapag si coach Aldin or any of his assistant coaches ang maghahandle ng team,” the source said.
“They were also waiting if UST will endorse ‘yung appeal ni coach but parang walang balak ang UST eh. Parang nilaglag nila si coach Aldin,” he added. “So the two just decided to move out of UST.”
Prior to Nonoy and Cuajao, others who decided to leave the UST camp were CJ Cansino to the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, Ferdinand Asuncion to Mapua University Cardinals and Rhenz Abando, Brent Paraiso and Ira Bataller to Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights.
