Singapore’s Raj Lavin receives lots of lovin’ from PH crowd
Gilas Pilipinas may have hardly broke a sweat in their 110-58 victory on Wednesday against Singapore, there is this one player that captured the hearts of Filipino fans.
Every time that Singapore’s Raj Lavin was receiving the ball, numerous Filipino enthusiasts would roar for him to go against Gilas’ towering big men.
The 19-year-old cager became the crowd favorite in Mall of Asia Arena probably because of his hefty stature, which fascinated most PH supporters during the game.
“They’re very loud, you know? I’m honored to be here, to embrace the crowd, and play a game here,” Lavin said.
“I’m really happy they liked the way I played a game, and they are cheering for me. It’s great. I’m happy.”
Lavin also saw himself being adored on social media by Gilas fans as well after the game.
Really good game for Gilas but Lavin of Singapore is the crowd favorite 🙂 https://t.co/zEkpuOj5HP

I’m elated with Gilas’ victory. I’m bothered by Noli Eala’s and Quinito Henson’s slur of Raj Lavin’s physique, though. They said he must have had unli rice and unli ulam. Is such comment really necessary? These guys forget we are not their only viewers. #notoshaming

Hindi ko tuloy alam kung Gilas Pilipinas ang chinicheer o si Lavin eh. Nice one, kababayans, basketball indeed is our turf! Pati ibang teams, chinicheer na natin. That’s how we love the game.
Congrats, Gilas Pilipinas. https://t.co/Y7HNZ47NPj

PBA kunin niyo na si Raj Lavin ng Singapore, pantapat kay Belga sa paramihan ng extra-rice. #SEAGames2019 🏀🇵🇭

For the 6-foot-7 Lavin, he is definitely aware that PH fans are everywhere since he also for Singapore Slingers in Asean Basketball League (ABL).
“When I go overseas to play, even when Alab Pilipinas, they come over to Singapore to play, the Filipino crowd is there,” he shared.
