Filipino basketball fans will witness and experience the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup live and exclusively through FIBA’s global partner and mobile services provider, Smart Communications, Inc.
The telecommunications company announced on Tuesday that select Smart Stores located at SM and Robinsons Malls will be offering FIBA World Cup tickets.
“This makes it easier for fans to secure seats to the (FIBA World Cup) games and also gives fans the chance to see some of the world’s biggest basketball stars,” Smart said in a statement.
Single-game tickets for the World Cup matches are also available on Ticketnet (www.ticketnet.com.ph) and SM Tickets (www.smtickets.com) for as low as PHP 499.
The Gilas Pilipinas are set to face the Dominican Republic at 8 p.m. on August 25 at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, where the country attempts to break the biggest FIBA Basketball World Cup attendance record currently held by Toronto, Canada.
To make it possible, Smart partnered with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and the local organizing committee for FIBAWC 2023 and will be deploying 400 buses across Metro Manila and Clark, Pampanga, to bring fans to the Philippine Arena and back for the game.
After the Dominican Republic game, Gilas will face Angola on August 27 and Italy on August 29, both games at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Gilas will also play at least two more games to conclude the group phase.
