SMC reportedly acquires 50 percent ownership of NLEX but MVP Group remains team’s decision-maker

THE MVP Group is expected to retain control of the NLEX Road Warriors squad despite San Miguel Corporation reportedly acquiring a 50 percent ownership stake in the PBA franchise.

According to a source by Abante Bilyonaryo Group’s Homer Sayson, the Ramon S. Ang-owned company has acquired half of NLEX, but the MVP Group will remain the team’s primary decision-maker.

The reported arrangement would allow the MVP Group to continue overseeing the Road Warriors’ basketball operations despite SMC’s significant ownership stake.

Ronald Dulatre is also expected to remain as NLEX team governor, Sayson added.

The reported ownership development comes amid discussions about the future direction of the Road Warriors, who are currently among the PBA’s top teams in the Season 50 Governors’ Cup.

The reported 50-percent acquisition has yet to be formally announced by NLEX, the MVP Group or San Miguel Corporation. (By the Staff)
