Suzara: More Phl volleybelles to follow Jaja, Espejo, Bagunas footsteps
More Filipino volleyball players are seen to follow the footsteps of Jaja Santiago, Marck Espejo and Bryan Bagunas as reinforcements abroad, according to Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) president Ramon Suzara.
During his appearance at the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum on Tuesday, Suzara said that Santiago, Espejo and Bagunas will serve as inspiration to other volleybelles in the country to strive harder.
“I think maybe in the next two years, we could have more players playing in other countries,” Suzara said. “I’m very optimistic there will be more opportunities for our players, especially that we have a lot of tall players.”
Santiago is currently in Japan for her third stint as import with the Saitama Ageo Medics in 28th V.League 2021-22 season, Bagunas also plays for Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler V.League in Japan, while Espejo was an import in Bahrain last year.
