Teng sizzles in D-League debut with 42 points
Jeron Teng made sure that his PBA D-League debut would be as spectacular as his final UAAP game.
The former De La Salle King Archer exploded for 42 points en route to a 101-95 AMA victory over Batangas in the Aspirants’ Cup on Thursday.
The Titans were holding a comfortable 51-37 lead before Batangas ignited a 23-12 run to trail within three, 60-63. But ever the clutch guy, Teng fired up six-straight points of his own to end the third quarter with a 73-68 edge.
The Season 79 Finals MVP then teamed up with former Ateneo star Juami Tiongson in the payoff period to seal the win for AMA.
Teng racked up 19 markers in the first half and 16 in the last two quarters. He also registered six rebounds and six assists.
In her Twitter account, his girlfriend and former courtside reporter Jeanine Tsoi expressed the sentiments of the basketball community.
“WHAT A DEBUT GAME!!!!! @jeronteng,” the former UAAP courtside reporter posted.
Last year, Teng steered La Salle to its second UAAP championship in four seasons. (Alex Cerado)
