STRONG Group Athletics-Pilipinas standout Trisha Tubu became the subject of gender-based insults on social media anew following the Philippine club’s four-set loss to Thailand’s Supreme Chonburi E.Tech in the 2026 Formosa Women’s Volleyball Invitational Tournament.
Posts and comments that circulated on a Thai volleyball Facebook page questioned Tubu’s gender based on her appearance.
Some users remarks such as, “Why do men compete with women?”, “Very manly,” “Flat chest, so flat,” “No need to chase, the guy is so cool,” and “No matter how you look at it, it’s still man.”
Tubu, one of the Philippines’ top volleyball players, has previously denied allegations about her gender.
The Filipina outside hitter was among Strong Group Athletics’ key performers alongside Chinnie Arroyo, Risa Nogales and Zam Nolasco in the team’s tournament opener.
Despite the online attacks, Strong Group remains focused on its campaign in the Formosa Women’s Volleyball Invitational Tournament and is set to face host team Earth Power Taipei in its next match on Saturday night. (Adrian Co)
