Thirdy ain’t just Kiefer’s kid brother anymore: Younger Ravena is ‘the man’ in Ateneo win

Thirdy Ravena finally came out of the shadows of his more popular sibling, “The Phenom” Kiefer, as he powered Ateneo Blue Eagles to their first title in five years.

Ravena totally outclassed UAAP Season 80 MVP Ben Mbala in the Finals, specially in the crucial Game 3 where he poured in 17 points on 50 percent shooting, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block

Ravena, who has scars on his face and limbs and a bloodied jersey as proof of his gallant effort, was named Finals MVP with 16.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.

Although Kiefer has two MVP trophies from Seasons 77 and 78, the Phenom has never won Finals MVP in his two Ateneo championships – Nico Salva was the best Blue Eagle in Seasons 74 and 75 championships.

In case your keeping count, the 20-year old Thirdy also won juniors MVP as an Eaglet in 2013 which Kiefer never won (although he was Finals MVP twice in high school).

“It’s just a surreal feeling, seeing the community support us through the season, its just a great feeling,” he said. “I know I’m tired, but seeing the community cheering us every single possession, every single minute of the game, it doesn’t matter how tired I am. I’m gonna give it all for them, all for God.”

Kiefer might be the more cerebral among the brothers at this point but the way Thirdy molded his muscular physique, the sky’s the limit for the more athletically gifted Ravena.
