Playing in front of his fellow Davaoeños, Scottie Thompson put on an all-around performance to lead the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel to an 85-67 romp of the Blackwater Elite in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup on Saturday evening at Digos City, Davao del Sur.

Thompson, who hails from Digos City registered 16 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals to give Ginebra its second win in a row.

The Gin Kings improved to 3-2 to take solo third in the standings, while dropping Blackwater to 1-5.

Japeth Aguilar has apparently recovered from the ankle injury he got in their last game, leading the Kings in points production with 20, on top of 9 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Aguilar’s partner Greg Slaughter provided 17 points, six rebounds, and two blocks.

The Elite fought back in the second frame by closing within five, 21-26, after Gin Kings’s blitzering start.

Ginebra retake the lead, 44-28, via 18-7 run to end the first half.

Ginebra would not allow Blackwater to find their flow from that point, leading as high as 24 twice in the second half.

Ginebra will look to keep their win streak alive when they face the NorthPort Batang Pier on March 1.

Meanwhile, Blackwater will aim to end their losing skid against the Alaska Aces on Wednesday.
