Tim Cone to miss son’s wedding due to Gilas Pilipinas commitment

Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone focused during national team training and preparations.

GILAS Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone will miss his son’s wedding in San Francisco on September 5 as he attends to his commitments with the national men’s basketball team.

Cone revealed this in an interview with Abante Bilyonaryo Group’s Homer Sayson, saying he would be with Gilas for their Asian Games preparation when his son, who is a financial analyst, gets married.

“Seriously, my son is getting married in San Francisco on Sept. 5 and I’ll be missing it,” Cone said. “Needless to say, that is not going well with my wife.”

“Yes, but please don’t make a big deal about it. It’s all part of the job. My family has always understood that,” he added.

Cone, who also serves as head coach of Barangay Ginebra in the PBA, has been handling the national team’s duties alongside his club commitments.

His latest comments underscored the demanding schedule that has continued to keep him away from his family as he juggles his responsibilities with Gilas Pilipinas and Ginebra.(Adrian Co)
