TNT Tropang 5G is cautiously optimistic that resident import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson will be close to full strength when the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup resumes in October.
Team manager Jojo Lastimosa said Hollis-Jefferson is being eased back into action and will continue to observe a minutes restriction as he works his way toward full fitness.
“RHJ coming in slowly with minutes restriction (in practices). Hopefully he’s close to 100 percent by October,” Lastimosa said in a text message to Fastbreak on Thursday.
The former NBA player was sidelined after sustaining an achilles tear injury while playing as an import for Meralco Bolts in the East Asia Super League earlier this year.
Hollis-Jefferson’s return is expected to provide a major boost to the Tropang 5G as they continue their title-defense campaign following the league break.
Currently, Rondae’s older brother, Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson, is serving as TNT’s import.
The team has a 4-4 win-loss slate before the league went on a break to give way to Gilas Pilipinas’ international campaigns. (Adrian Co)
